After 203 Miles in total, the ride finishes under the magnificent Eiffel Tower. All this with an achievable sponsorship target of £750 (it is usually £1400!).

The 2012 cycle is taking place in late June and is going to be bigger than ever! If you would like to sign up for this fantastic event, please click here.

Cycle the Cape - 15th to 30th August 2012

Minimum sponsorship £2,400; Registration fee £325 (£275 for students)

Hope for Children are proud to take part in their first cycling tour of South Africa. The adventure starts from the big tree in the Tsitsikamma Forest and will end when you reach the Cape of Good Hope after climbing over the highs of Robinson Pass at 860m.

The 360-mile adventure over 6 days will see you challenge yourself as you ride along some of the most beautiful scenery South Africa has to offer while challenging you to overcome mountain passes as well.

Along the way you will have the opportunity to jump off your bike and see South Africa up close, port tasting at Calitzdorp, whale watching in Hermanus and visiting a penguin sanctuary in addition to many more highlights.

Cycling for HOPE - a testimonial

In June of last year, 42 riders including our former Events Fundraiser, Will Byles, cycled from London to Paris in support of Hope for Children. Read below for Will's account of the journey.

"It was April when I decided I was going to embark upon the challenge of cycling from London to Paris. At that time June 27th felt like a long way off. Time flew, and before I knew it, I had only 1 month to go! I then really pushed myself with the training. I did a 30-60 Mile bike ride each weekend, and regularly visited the gym during the week.

On Sunday 27th June, we set off into the busy streets of London with 203 miles and 3 days of cycling ahead of us, a very daunting prospect. However, as soon as you get going, your confidence grows. I could talk for hours about the experience; the French villages, which provide the perfect snapshot of provincial life in France; the rolling countryside, quaint villages and gruelling hills of East Sussex, and the other riders who keep you going when you feel like your legs might stop working! On the third day, when we were about 30 Miles outside Paris we got our first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower. Even though we were all completely shattered, knowing how close we were gave us the energy to get to Paris - A true achievement.

I recommend it for anyone who is looking to push themselves physically, and receive an un-forgettable experience in the process, and all for a fantastic cause - Hope for Children."
