A huge thank you to the Tom Maccabee Memorial Fund and community youth football club West Bridgford Colts for their support of our amazing project Girls United which works with girls living in extreme poverty in Namuwongo, a slum settlement outside the Ugandan capital Kampala. We know sport can be transformational in this context, providing a platform to develop girls’ confidence, self-esteem and gain vital knowledge about keeping themselves safe and healthy. Girls United offers football training and lifeskills sessions every week, so far in 2019 we have worked with 75 girls aged 9-17.
