The Hope Awards Honour the Hope Heroes of 2017

Student Fundraiser of the Year 2017 Award Winner: Laura De Haan

This year, Laura De Haan (University of Hertfordshire) won the Student Fundraiser of the Year in recognition of her dedication to the charity, and her continuous willingness to take on immense challenges including climbing Mt Kilimanjaro & Everest Base Camp, as well as her enthusiasm to introduce new supporters to Hope for Children.

 

Team Hope 2017 Award Winner: Adrian May

Nominees: Adrian May, Emma Savva, Simon Blair

Adrian May walked away with the Team Hope Award after completing the Marathon des Sables for the 3rd time this year, while there was special presentation to 8-year old Emma Savva – founder of Emma’s Run – who flew all the way from Cyprus to join the party.

 

Empowering Hope 2017 Award Winner: Taking Pictures, Changing Lives

Adam Dickens of Taking Pictures, Changing Lives was awarded the Empowering Hope Award for his pro bono photo documenting of our projects in Ghana & Uganda, which have become the iconic imagery of our Head Held High appeal.

 

Corporate Partner of the Year 2017 Award Winner: Jet2.com & Jet2Holidays

The Corporate Partner of the Year Award went to longstanding supporters Jet2.com & Jet2Holidays, who this year surpassed the £100,000 fundraising mark, and continue to astound us with their energy and passion.

 

Outstanding Contribution to Hope Award Winner: Chris Hughes

The Awards were rounded off with a very special award to recognise the outstanding contribution of Chris Hughes to Hope for Children, and his years of tireless support. With the support of his wife, Linda, and close friend, Trevor, Chris has been the architect of Events for Namuwongo, which has raised in excess of £700,000 since 2011 to transform the slum community of Namuwongo in Uganda.
