Student fundraising has boomed in the last five years and consequently become a major part of the future of Hope for Children (HOPE). In 2013, Raising and Giving (RAG) societies led UK university students to raise in excess of £7.5 million for charity, including HOPE.

HOPE has enjoyed a huge level of support from students all over the UK, with over 200 students involved in fundraising events in 2013. Your Uni, Their Lives (YUTL) is the next step in further mobilizing and engaging these incredible rising stars, and the support of vulnerable children for many years to come.

At the heart of YUTL is a strong desire to engage students on a much more substantial and informed level with the work they are actively supporting, whether this be through awareness campaigns or fundraising. All funds raised by students will be designated to our projects in East Africa, where the majority of our work focuses on children living and working on the streets. “We are so grateful for all the fantastic support HOPE receives from students throughout the country. One of the main goals of YUTL is to take this support to the next stage, enabling students to gain a far greater appreciation of our work with vulnerable children in East Africa, whose lives are dramatically improved by the funds and awareness that HOPE has as a direct result of student participation”

Simon Jackman, Chief Executive Officer, Hope for Children

In addition, we hope that RAGs will utilize our brand new YUTL website – which will be unveiled at the launch – to showcase the philanthropy of students at their university to their campus and to local and national media. The third element of YUTL will be to assist students in their development of skills, and how they can transfer these into employable and tangible language that graduate employers will find attractive. As part of this third pillar of YUTL, HOPE is partnering up with a number of corporate entities to provide knowledge and credibility from this sector.

The launch party will be taking place at Speaker’s House, Westminster, on Wednesday 26th February. If you are interested in attending this event please contact Ed Fletcher, our Student Fundraising Manager, by Wednesday 12th February.
