Hope for Children Statement on Childreach
We were deeply saddened to hear the news that Childreach International has been forced to cease all operations with immediate effect. Our sadness extends both to their committed supporters and team, and to the thousands of vulnerable children all over the world they helped, as well as their overseas staff and partners, who will be affected by this news.
It is with this in mind that we have been working closely with Childreach International’s board of trustees to assess what we can do to minimise the impact of this announcement – to both students and international projects.
It is important to remember at times like this that ultimately, we are all working and raising funds to improve the lives of vulnerable children across the world. One shared goal. Nothing should ever be more important than this.
Therefore, in the knowledge that there are many students across the UK who have signed up to challenges in aid of Childreach International, we feel the only offering we are able to responsibly give to you, to enable you to continue with an adventure of a lifetime and raise valuable funds to support some of the most vulnerable children in the world, is the following:

Student Fundraising
If you have signed up to a challenge in aid of Childreach International, we would love to welcome you into the Hope family. To ensure that at least 50% of the funds you raise are used to help us achieve our mission to enable vulnerable children to experience a happy, healthy and positive childhood, you will be asked to fundraise afresh and reach our fundraising pledge targets (varied dependent on challenge) by agreed deadlines – see Choose a Challenge update for more details.

Registration Fees
We have been working with Choose a Challenge, our fully ATOL protected logistics provider, and can confirm that whilst new registration fees will need to be paid, Choose a Challenge have provided a generous discount to support students at this difficult time.

Could this happen to Hope for Children?
Hope for Children are not facing the financial challenges that caused Childreach International to close. As can be seen from the financial statement in our annual review, and on the Charities Commission, Hope for Children is in a stable financial situation and indeed we have reserves to ensure our sustainability.
